Celebrating International Women’s Day at Gunn JCB

At Gunn JCB, International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable people who drive our business forward. This year, we’re proud to reflect on the journey of our Managing Director, Wendy Asquith, a leader whose dedication, experience, and people-first approach have shaped the future of our organisation.

While Wendy is recognised as the first female Managing Directors within the UK’s JCB dealer network, it’s important to her that the focus isn’t on gender alone. Her story is one of commitment, professionalism, and earning each step through hard work.

Wendy stated, “I don’t see myself as a woman in a man’s industry, I see myself as someone who wants to come to work and do a great job.”

A career built on dedication

Wendy joined the TC Harrison Group over 15 years ago, building a reputation for operational excellence, trust, and strong collaboration through a variety of roles. When TC Harrison acquired Gunn JCB two years ago, her move into the Managing Director role felt, as she describes it, like a “natural progression.”

Her leadership style is grounded in fairness, transparency, and bringing out the best in people. Wendy has always been passionate about ensuring that every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive.

Championing talent, not titles

Even as we celebrate International Women’s Day, Wendy is clear about her thoughts: the right person should always be chosen for the job based on ability, experience, and passion.

“Hopefully I’ve been able to influence the people that I’ve worked with as well, so that we don’t see these gender specific roles, it’s just about having the right person in the right job.”

Her approach resonates strongly across Gunn JCB. Wendy’s impact isn’t about being the first or being female, it’s about leading by example, creating an inclusive environment, and inspiring confidence in others.

Inspiring the next generation

Wendy’s position naturally encourages others, especially young women exploring careers in construction, machinery, and engineering, to see what’s possible. While she doesn’t seek the spotlight, she recognises the value of visibility in helping others feel empowered to pursue roles historically underrepresented by women.

Looking ahead

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re proud to highlight the leaders who make Gunn JCB stronger, not because of who they are, but because of the work they do and the people they support.

Wendy’s journey is one of dedication and growth. We’re proud to celebrate her, our teams, and the continued progress across our industry.
